Hi all,
I've been recommended a book called "Healing Back Pain: the mind-body connection" by John E. Sarno, MD. It posits that sometimes back pain, neck pain, sciatica and even things like headaches, heartburn, IBS and plantar fasciitis are caused by the mind to distract us from subconscious anxiety and anger. The idea is that these pains can be caused by a condition called Tension Myositis Syndrome which leads to lack of oxygen to the muscles, as a way of avoiding emotional pain.
I just wondered if anyone had read it and had any thoughts on it.
