- Celebrating lifeDans Sharing Space·8 July 2023It's hot and sunny outside and because of antibiotics I have to shield myself from the sun. I am a lot more indoors than I like to but I still am nourishing myself with nature. These are flowers I have grown from seed. I picked them today as a birthdaygift for a friend. I have similar flowers on our dining table. And I treasure them. When I seeded them indoors in early spring I was quite emotional: so grateful that I had survived cancer and yet also a bit anxious would I not seed the flowers for my own coffin? The plants have grown through a harsh spring and are now in my garden. 2 weeks ago I cut some beautiful flowers for my mother-in-law. She was dying at 88 yrs. She was a closed woman, who had quit isolated herself in her last years. But there was one thing we both loved: nature. She lived alone among farmland and would always tell us about the hare, birds or deer she had seen. And she loved flowers, especially those from the garden. She died peacefully in hospital. She is buried in an old forest next to my father in law. We gave her body back to nature. I now have a beautiful vase from her house filled with flowers from our garden. There is no better way to remember her. And each time I look at the flowers, my heart lifts for all the beautiful shapes and colours. And I feel grateful that I live to enjoy them.101083
- Hello From New Mexico (via Hertfordshire!)Dans Meet the Gang!·5 June 2022Hello, I feel so happy to be here. I have long admired Alistair on the various TV shows he has been on, his gentle, easy going and kind personality shines through. Today I discovered Mindsprings and am looking forward to exploring the site and learning. I am originally from Hertfordshire, UK but now live in New Mexico where I own an alpaca farm with over 40 alpacas. I find alpacas to be soothing and meditative creatures. I have been meditating on a regular basis for about 15 years and practicing yoga for about 8 years, but there is always room for learning and expansion. This seems to be a kind and welcoming community and I look forward to being part of it. Sending blessings to all.522118

- Good scanDans Sharing Space·13 June 2023Hi all, for those of you who saw me emotional this monday class because of the CT-SCAN I had that day a short update. I could read a short summary of the findings in my online chart today and these were good. I still have some questions for my hematologist ( I have an appointment next monday) but that is into the details. I am really relieved and grateful for my recovery. With tears rolling while I write grateful...as in naming it I experience how central that is in my being at the moment and in the past year. Thanks for your loving support, Mechteld-Hanna10856

- Hello from FranceDans Meet the Gang!·26 May 2022Hello to the Mindsprings community ! I'm really happy to join again the community on this new platform. I know that I will meet wonderful people here, and also find some great resources about topics like emotions, stress and anxiety. It will help me for my inner trip, and move forward on the path to "freedom". As a very dear friend told me recently, even if it can be very difficult or maybe seem counter-intuitive : "The only way out is through !".810124
- Hi from the USADans Meet the Gang!·6 February 2023My husband and I have followed Alistair on the BBC for years watching and listening to his calm manner helping others find their dream homes in the countryside. He has been my favorite to watch. On March 23, 2021 my heart stopped and I quit breathing. I had what is called an out-of-hospital Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Without warning you drop and lose consciousness. I was clinically dead for 18 minutes. When paramedics reached me I was cyanic (blue) and fully coded. They worked on me with CPR and AED shocks for an hour then transported me to a heart hospital 30 miles away (we had recently moved out to the country) where the ER worked on me for two more hours. Because of being without a pulse or respiration I have what is called an acquired brain injury so my memory is pretty well shot. People that survive not only an out-of-hospital Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) but also survive being discharged from the hospital are very rare - about 8% will survive. There is a Survivors group on FB that I am a member of with people from the UK, USA, Australia, and all over. We learn more from each other's experiences than we do from our medical teams. Because of my SCA I have a new perspective on life - when you code and go through something like this you come back different from before. You may look the same, but you're not. Dying was the easy part, living now with all of the changes your body experienced physically and mentally is a huge pain to deal with. Life goes on thankfully and I am blessed and thankful to have more time with family and friends. I have come to Alistair's site for calmness and learning, and meeting others who care deeply about changing their lives for the better through his teachings. I look forward to all I can learn and feel from Alistair and what others share. Thank you for allowing me to join this marvelous community.81091
