- Chögyam Trungpa on why Shamata practice makes you Adult.i Sharing Space·18 April 2024We had a lovely session of shamata practice this morning and I read this quote from Trungpa’s The Path of Individual Liberation p 232 If you don't have a good relationship with yourself, you cannot understand the dharma, and your body and mind will not be properly coordinated. The practice of meditation helps you to coordinate your body and your mind. You realize that your mind can be directed to a particular effort, that your mind works. Through shamatha you are able to raise your mind to an adult level. Your mind does not jump all over the place whenever you try to do something. In this samsaric world, most of you have grown up physically, but psychologically you are very young. You can't concentrate. You can't eat even one good meal properly because your mind is constantly jumping all over the place. The basic message of shamatha practice is that your mind could be as adult as your body.3129
- A space for healing thoughts?i Sharing Space·15 April 2024Some years ago I was in a group where we took it in turns to send distance healing at a certain time. All folk needed to do was send a name. Would anyone be interested if Alistair thought it was suitable? There was no need for zooms. Just thinking ‘ aloud’! I haven’t been able to join as our broadband has been very poor and I’m away for the next few weeks. Thanks ☺️1144
- Please pray for my husband Simoni Sharing Space6 April 2024Thank you for your prayers and healing vibes. He had his eyes open lots today. He is trying to talk. I understood some words. I recited some Wayne Dyer affirmations to him and said to think about how relaxed he feels after a Mindsprings meditation. Please pray for more recovery. Lots of talking. Thank you Mindsprings friends.22

- Beingfulness: Sensualityi Sharing Space·23 March 2024Having just completed this module of the wonderful Beingfulness course it reminded me so vividly of how profoundly moved I was by the movie Nine Days, where unborn souls get to see and hear images and sounds of life experience in the ‘real’ world, but can’t truly feel anything before they are ‘born’. It is one of my favourite films, and although it can be a tough watch at times, it left me floored, heartbroken, grateful, and uplifted all at the same time. An incredible score too. I had the ‘luck’ of a health scare over 20 years ago that gave me the gift of truly savouring every moment, every sight, sound, feel, smell, and taste (which can drive those around me crazy sometimes if I bang on about it too much, and can makes walks take twice as long!), but Alistair’s superb course and this phenomenal film both serve as excellent reminders to really be in the moment. I highly recommend the movie, but be ready for a few tears!5250
